Whereas we an incorporate body of people of like precious faith:
We Believe…
- in the upliftment of the whole person (physical, emotional, mental, cognitive/spiritual).
- the body is the temple of the spirit(soul) and we are spiritual beings having a physical experience.
- we are all called uniquely to serve the divine and thus it is inappropriate to impose the will of one on another.
- in sovereignty over one’s actions/body.
- there is an unseen energy that exists beyond that which is visible/tangible.
- this energy can be called upon (evoked) to support desired outcomes. (prayers, affirmations, …)
- each and every person has intrinsic value and rights.
- that God/spirits are actively at work in the world and has been at work throughout history.
- every person has a soul/spirit side created with divine perfection( in the image of God) and should be treated with dignity and respect.
In addition to our faith, we embrace a worldview that supports and advocates for human rights. Politics can be a tricky subject for a religious body or faith based congregation. We do not advocate for a particular party or a particular individual, as viewpoints can shift. We do discuss principles, concepts, and guiding tenets as to how that which may play out in the political/cultural arena pertains to ourselves and to taking action that supports; mutual respect, inclusivity, rights, and caring for our fellow humans and the larger world around us. These may include issues related to; justice, discrimination, philosophical notations, or issues related to societal change.
While we can have a personal relationship to our faith and beliefs, we still influence and/or are influenced by the larger conversations happening in the world around us. To live spirit based lives, we not only seek to propel ourselves forward as individuals but to propel our communities forward through our words and deeds.
